In the challenging times we are in these days, it’s of great importance that we don’t forget about ourselves, nor our happiness. Take some time to do little things that can brighten you day, and will keep you walking around with a big smile on your face. It isn’t hard to get stuck in a routine with a boring schedule, but it also isn’t hard to nurture little rituals that will put a smile on your face and make you happy! That is the reason why I would love to share my secrets with you and tell you how I insert a little bit of extra ‘happy’ in to my day and show myself the love I know I owe myself. 1. START YOUR DAY IN THE SUN

There is nothing like the feeling of the sun and fresh air on your face, and why not have this every morning? It only takes a minute to get outside and have the sun shine on your face with your eyes closed. Take a few deep breaths of fresh air, and your spirit will lift automatically. Your body and mind will awaken and you will feel a lot happier and will get excited about your day.

2. STRETCH

You may wake up with pain or tension from your night’s sleep. Stretching first thing in the morning will increase your overall bloodflow. Also, it will relax your muscles so you can get through the day easily. Showing your muscles and body some love is one of the many forms of happiness, so why not take your time to touch your toes in order to feel great all day? It will only take about 30 seconds and will put a smile on your face for the rest of the day.

3. HAVE A BEVERAGE

Another great way of feeling happy is to take a moment to just relax and prep your mind. My go-to morning ritual is definitely thinking about what I want to do that day while sipping some hot tea. Simply listening to all of the sounds around me while drinking a hot beverage never fails to make me feel grateful and lift my spirit. And by starting the day this way, I’m always able to feel energized and happy throughout the day.

4. TAKE A SHOWER

Showering in the morning feels like a soothing and healing gift. A clean body comes with a clean mind. While showering we often get a lot happier, because we feel a lot fresher. It can really lift your spirit, because it is usually a very peaceful, rewarding and mindful activity.

5. LISTEN TO MUSIC

Another great way to get you in the mood to conquer the day and feel good, is listening to some uplifting music. It won’t take time at all, since you are able to do other things while listening to music. Listen to your favorite music, for example in your car on your way to work, and you will feel a lot better about your day!

6. BE KIND

Random acts of kindness not only make you a lot happier, but also someone else. Win-win, right? It can be as simple as helping an old lady crossing the street or tipping a waitress, but you once you perform random acts of kindness, you will feel a lot better. Do good, and good will come to you!

7. LAUGH

This is probably the most obvious and simple way to feel happier; just have a good laugh. Watch a clip of your favorite comedian or read a funny cartoon and you will notice you’ll feel a lot better in an instance!

8. CARE ABOUT OTHERS

You may not be able to see our friends or family as much as you’d like, but they’re always on the other end of the line. Don’t be afraid to call or text them to ask how they’re doing. Interactions with your loved ones is another easy way to not only feel better yourself, but also make them a lot happier!

9. SAY ‘NO’

Of course, we all have things we need to do without really wanting it. But don’t be afraid to say no! It’s perfectly fine to say no to other people once in a while. You’ll feel a lot happier if you just say no once in a while, although this might take some practice!

10. START EATING HEALTHY

Eating healthy is underestimated, but please try this. It isn’t only much better or your body than fast food, it also makes you feel a lot better. Fill your body with the nutrients it needs, and remember you are not only taking care for yourself, but also make your body a lot happier, too!

11. SMILE

Just smile, it’s as simple as that. Smile to strangers on the street, smile to the people on the bus, smile to your loved ones, and you will probably get a lot of smiles back! It is always nice to be smiled at, and will make your day better in an instance!
